Blaize partners with Starshine to introduce a new hybrid AI platform in APAC nations, focusing on smart cities, industry, retail, agriculture, and energy efficiency.
The edge AI startup Blaize gained a $120 million contract to introduce its hybrid AI platform in major APAC nations, like South Korea, China, Japan, India, and Indonesia. In partnership with Starshine Computing Power Technology, the launch will be in the financial Q3 2025 and continue through 2026.
Projects related to smart cities will be the main focus of the deployment, with solutions designed especially for each nation. Blaize's hybrid platform supports applications in retail, security, industrial automation, urban tracking, and agriculture by combining its low-power AI chips with standard GPU systems. Blaize's Graph Streaming Processor and its Pathfinder and Xplorer edge processors, that offer real-time AI analysis with low delay and energy consumption, power the platform. By analyzing large video streams at the edge, these systems allow businesses and cities to make decisions more quickly and accurately.
"Inference is leading the charge in Asia, representing a $112 billion opportunity for the next generation," stated Dinakar Munagala, Blaize CEO and co-founder. He highlighted the growing demand for AI in the field to improve the economy, urban development, and climate adaptation. Predictive maintenance in production and distribution, real-time store security, and agricultural optimization—from increasing crop yields to better managing water and livestock—are a few examples of this application.
The hybrid AI systems from Blaize and Starshine are designed to be flexible and scalable, combining with current GPU infrastructure to improve energy use per compute unit. By 2030, smarter cities, more connected tech-driven economies, and effective industries could all be influenced by Blaize's platform as APAC nations expand their AI investments.
