Agoda reports a 24% rise in Diwali travel to India, with strong domestic demand and growing worldwide interest.
India is quickly developing as a worldwide center for Diwali travel, with a 24% rise in interest from both national and foreign tourists, reported Agoda, a digital travel site. Festive travel is popular in India, as shown by an 18% rise in local searches. The biggest increase came from foreign countries, as travel abroad interests rose to 67% annually. In South Korea, the searches rose more than 45 times over the previous year.
Growing interest was also shown by Southeast Asian nations. While searches from Malaysia rose by 25%, those from Thailand almost doubled. The US and the Middle East fell closely behind, with the US up 28% and the UAE up 87%, highlighting India's growing demand as a festive and cultural travel destination. Because of India’s unique combination of celebration and seaside attraction, Goa is the most desired place. Cultural centers like Jaipur and Udaipur also gained interest, with 49% and 46% search rises. Metro areas are closely behind, with searches for Mumbai rising by 18% and for New Delhi doubling.
"Travelers can enjoy a rich cultural experience during Diwali with the atmosphere of light, celebration, and unity," said Gaurav Malik, Country Director for the Indian Subcontinent and Indian Ocean Islands at Agoda. "The growing demand from established and new markets is positive." With more than 5 million houses and numerous booking options, Agoda is an option for travelers looking for unique holiday experiences. India is expected to become a popular vacation destination and also a celebration destination in the future as more people explore the culture with celebration.
