Airtel partners with IBM to expand AI-ready cloud services and data centers across India.
Bharti Airtel has teamed up with IBM to improve its presence in India's quickly growing cloud computing market. The telecom leader will now provide IBM's cloud services through its own platform, Airtel Cloud, which was revealed earlier this year.
The goal of this teamwork is to make the cloud migration process easier for companies, particularly those in highly regulated industries like banking, healthcare, and government. AI-ready servers and tools that can handle sophisticated applications and adhere to stringent compliance requirements will be offered by IBM.
The establishment of two new Multizone Regions (MZRs) in Chennai and Mumbai is a crucial component of this partnership. MZRs are unique kinds of cloud infrastructure that are dispersed among several different physical locations. They guarantee that services continue to function normally even in the event that one zone experiences problems. For Indian businesses, this action is expected to increase dependability and data security.
Additionally, Airtel is expanding its cloud availability zones throughout India from four to 10 in order to accommodate the growing demand. These will be housed in the energy-efficient data centers owned by Airtel. Gopal Vittal, the CEO of Airtel, says that the IBM cooperation offers Airtel Cloud powerful new features, especially for businesses that need to transition from outdated IBM systems to AI-ready solutions. Following major advances that are based on cloud, Google recently announced that it has spent $15 billion in an AI data center in Andhra Pradesh, where Airtel is also a partner. By offering mountable, secure, and AI cloud solutions, Airtel expects to make a major contribution to India's digital revolution.
