M2M Connectivity launches SolarConnect to simplify solar compliance and boost IoT-enabled energy monitoring.
M2M Connectivity, a leading provider of industrial IoT solutions, has launched M2M SolarConnect IS a new service aimed at supporting the solar energy industry across Australia and New Zealand. The solution is designed to help solar retailers and installers meet growing demand and comply with evolving energy regulations. Australia’s solar market has grown rapidly, now contributing over 12% of the national energy supply. With this growth come stricter rules from distributed network service providers (DNSPs), especially around dynamic export limits (DEL) and CSIP-AUS standards. These require solar systems to be remotely monitored and controlled using LTE connectivity something traditional Wi-Fi setups often can’t support.
By combining IoT SIM cards from M2M One with industrial-grade routers from Semtech, Sierra Wireless, and Skylink, M2M SolarConnect fills this gap. These ready-to-use kits are intended for large-scale solar farms up to 50MW, business installations, and residential rooftops. In Victoria, South Australia, and Queensland, they are pre-configured with XML and DNSP templates that are adapted to state specific legislation.
A key feature of the solution is cellular failover, ensuring solar systems stay connected even during network outages. This reliability helps fast-track DNSP approvals, often within 72 hours. All hardware is RCM-certified, and pre-configured templates further simplify the compliance process. M2M’s expertise in IoT across industries like mining, healthcare, and utilities strengthens the offering. The company previously helped the National Renewable Network deploy over 600 compliant solar units in 2024. According to M2M Connectivity, SolarConnect is available in flexible packages either as bundled hardware and airtime or sold separately. The goal is to offer a simple, scalable and regulation ready solution for solar providers. This is M2M’s second major launch in 2025, following a satellite connectivity service introduced in June.
