Arqia to Acquire Algar Telecom’s IoT Connectivity Business

Arqia and Wireless Logic strengthen Brazil IoT connectivity capabilities as the planned acquisition expands connected solutions across Latin America.

Wireless Logic has announced an agreement to acquire Algar Telecom’s IoT connectivity business, which will become part of Arqia following completion. The agreement enhances the capabilities of Wireless Logic's Brazil IoT connectivity division and facilitates the strategy of Wireless Logic to extend the reach of Arqia in one of the Latin American nations.

The agreement adds to Wireless Logic's 2025 acquisition by Wireless Logic of Arqia. On completion of the deal, the two organizations would merge their strengths to help companies in agribusiness, logistics, payments, utilities, manufacturing, health care, and smart cities operate at scale.

Algar Telecom's IoT division was established in 2019 to serve the M2M and POS markets. Today, it is one of Brazil's best IoT platforms. Through the acquisition, Arqia's capabilities will be improved and expanded, particularly in mission-critical IoT and M2M services.

It highlights increasing demand for Internet of Things connectivity services among businesses based in Brazil, where companies are adopting connected devices to increase efficiency and automation. Speaking of the deal, Tomas Fuchs, CEO of Arqia, called it an important step for the development of the company. Among other things, he emphasized that it gives the company the chance to create more comprehensive products and at the same time expand in Brazil through IoT.

The sale is aimed at helping Algar invest more in its main segments of IT and telecommunications, including cloud, cybersecurity, and professional services.

Oliver Tucker, CEO of Wireless Logic, noted that the combination of Arqia’s local knowledge with the reach of Wireless Logic will be instrumental in delivering more value for their customers and further developing the IoT market in Latin America.

The deal is still subject to customary closing conditions, including necessary regulatory approvals. Before the completion of the deal, the IoT operations of Algar and Arqia will operate independently.
