Delinea’s report highlights the growing importance of identity security, AI adoption, and advanced IAM solutions to combat rising cyber threats.
Delinea, the leading provider of identity security solutions, has just published a new research report, "Why CISOs Must Prioritize a Strong Identity Security Strategy – and Where to start." The report draws on a survey of 300 technology and security leaders and highlights the rising importance of identity and access management in protecting organizations from the ever-growing number of identity-focused cyber threats, including ransomware.
The study shows that the detection and response to identity threats have become the number one priority for businesses, particularly with the advent of non-human identities, which complicates security management. Organizations are moving away from traditional authentication practices to a more holistic IAM strategy that incorporates intelligent authorization, entitlement management, privileged access management (PAM), and identity governance.
Art Gilliland, Delinea's CEO, explained, "Strong identity management has become foundational to an organization's overall security posture." In the increasingly complex digital ecosystems due to cloud adoption and hybrid work models, traditional security measures prove insufficient. Failure to embrace modern IAM solutions places organizations at the mercy of sophisticated cyberattacks that target vulnerable credentials.
The key findings of the report are as follows:
- 78% of enterprises intend to elevate their IAM security budget in 2025.
- Advanced IAM offerings, such as multifactor authentication, identity governance, and administration and cloud infrastructure entitlements management (CIEM) will be placed at the heart of the offering.
- 88% of respondents also indicated that the consolidation of multiple IAM vendors can help in unifying management.
Organizations are targeting the following needs: credential securement, better management of cloud identity, better views into access and securing remote environments.
Going forward, Delinea believes that AI will play a crucial role in the evolution of IAM. Organizations will leverage AI to automate identity governance, improve threat detection, and secure non-human identities. Since AI adoption is already happening, it is likely to change the face of identity security.
