Microsoft AI Devices take center stage at Build 2026 as the company unveils Project Solara, Nvidia-powered PCs, and new AI models aimed at redefining computing without traditional apps.
In a surprising new development in its technology approach, Microsoft unveiled new Microsoft AI Devices at its annual Build developer conference held in San Francisco. This includes experimental hardware, advanced AI models, and enterprise-grade tools meant to take computing beyond the scope of regular applications and operating systems.
Project Solara, an array of experimental AI devices, is one such example. While current computing technology requires operating systems to run applications, Project Solara is based on an innovative technology whereby the devices function through the use of AI agents connected to cloud computing platforms for tasks such as documentation, communications, and process automation. According to Microsoft, this will lead to the creation of more flexible and intelligent computing technologies.
The Microsoft Surface RTX Spark Dev Box was another revolutionary technology unveiled. As its name suggests, the device is an all-new computer capable of performing AI processes powered by Nvidia chips used in it. According to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, the computer is like a dream machine that can perform computations with advanced AI models. The machine acts as a competitor for Apple computers in the AI PC space.
Microsoft demonstrated tools that can be used to install OpenClaw into Windows, which provides the ability to carry out complex functions with the help of an AI agent while ensuring the enterprise-level security of your system, protecting from data leakage and other security vulnerabilities.
Software breakthroughs by Microsoft include introducing Scout – a new AI agent that can be embedded in Copilot that can manage your emails, messages and decisions, among others. Another innovation is that Microsoft revealed more about its research division, namely MAI Thinking-1, which is a reasoning model meant to rival similar solutions of Anthropic and Google.
Another development is that Microsoft will be working with the Mayo Clinic to create better reasoning models in order to help improve diagnostic capabilities. The Build 2026 announcements highlight Microsoft’s push to dominate the full AI stack, combining hardware, cloud systems, and frontier models in one ecosystem. Business Honor believes Microsoft AI Devices signal a transformative shift toward agent-first computing, strengthening its enterprise dominance while intensifying competition in the AI hardware and cloud ecosystem.
