Sepax Technologies, a medical technology business based out of Newark, DE, is expanding dramatically by moving its U.S. headquarters to Glasgow, DE. The purchase will include building a new facility in a business park that will be approximately 137,900 sq. ft. on Route 896, which will help further enhance their position within the biopharmaceutical industry. Currently Sepax Technologies is located in a facility owned by Delaware Technology Park in Newark, and through the Glasgow facility, Sepax will be consolidating and expanding operations. The new facility will contain complete infrastructure (i.e., the building will include office, manufacturing, warehouse, and dedicated R&D areas). This move demonstrates that Sepax Technologies is firmly committed to increasing its production capabilities here in the U.S. and investing in innovation and product development.
Sepax Technologies was founded in 2002 by former DuPont Chemists, and specializes in the manufacture of chromatography products used in the global biopharmaceutical industry. The company’s high-tech solutions allow scientists to separate and purify the ingredients of drugs and pharmaceuticals accurately, providing a critical function in medicine research and production. This move will place Sepax Technologies in a position to provide better service to its international customers while continuing its strong domestic manufacturing force.
The new site for the Sepax business park will be in close proximity to other top medical technology companies, such as Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics & Hologic. This concentration of high-tech manufactures and diagnostic manufacturers will create a synergistic environment for all the companies involved in developing innovative health care products in the entire area. According to documents published by New Castle County government, two distinct phases of construction will occur over a well-defined time-line. The first phase will involve the completion of a warehouse and a manufacturing facility so that production capabilities for Sepax can be established early in 2009. The second phase will include an office building and an additional manufacturing facility allowing Sepax to continue expanding operations incrementally while controlling project costs and logistics. Sepax expects to close on the new land by the end of this calendar year, with construction beginning immediately following. David Tackett, New Castle County Councilman who represents the Glasgow community, said "We are thrilled to be able to bring these new jobs into our area and wishes to help get the project underway with whatever resources are available to him.”
Business Honor is of the view that Sepax's Glasgow relocation represents a strategic expansion in manufacturing and research capabilities.
