The acquisition aims to strengthen India’s defence electronics while expanding power systems and advancing domestic military technology innovation.
Versabyte Data Systems, a trusted provider of power electronics to India's defense industry, has seen a strategic acquisition by Sanlayan Technologies, an established defense electronics company. The goal of the move is to increase Sanlayan's presence across the nation's military technology value chain. "Power systems are an important part of modern military hardware; most advanced technology is ineffective without them," stated Rahul Vamshidhar, CEO and co-founder of Sanlayan.
Versabyte has the ability to advance India's substitute import strategy. The country's defensive abilities are strengthened by this collaboration. As part of the agreement, Versabyte's power electronics product is made available to Sanlayan, that can continue to function independently under the current leadership. The acquisition supports Sanlayan's plan to establish a 70-person R&D team committed to radar and electronic warfare technologies, along with its recent acquisition of embedded systems company Dexcel Electronics.
In order to handle distant radars, directed energy weapons, self-contained systems, electronic warfare, secured communications, and space platforms, Versabyte plans to expand its modular power supply abilities from 200 to 500 kilowatts. The company reported Rs67 crore in sales, Rs16.5 crore in net profit, and Rs210 crore in project pipeline and order book for FY25.
Versabyte is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for power systems that are used by state-owned defense businesses like Hindustan Aeronautics, Bharat Electronics, Bharat Dynamics Ltd., and DRDO programs. Crucial radar, missile, marine, and aviation platforms are operated by its products. The partnership plans to improve its share of India’s defense exports and production targets by 2029. Suggesting a future where India meets its defense requirements and also advances as a world leader in domestic military technologies. Supporting the development of platforms and independent defense innovation.
