KAFD and Sirar by STC partner to strengthen smart infrastructure cybersecurity with AI-driven threat detection.
The King Abdullah Financial District Development and Management Company (KAFD DMC) and Sirar by STC have partnered up to upgrade cybersecurity on KAFD's smart infrastructure, putting the district on the map as a model for secure, smart urban development. This partnership takes advantage of Sirar's managed security expertise through its nationally Tier-1 accredited Managed Detection and Response (MDR) centre, offering 24/7 detection and response to threats. The two firms aim to implement an integrated digital security system in line with global cybersecurity best practices to enhance threat detection, business continuity, and operational resilience across KAFD's ecosystem.
KAFD's smart infrastructure varies from advanced Internet of Things (IoT) devices and sensors to control systems, including mobility, lighting, and building management systems. The AI-driven cybersecurity solutions offered by Sirar will safeguard these sensitive assets, in addition to public wireless networks, allowing for secure digital engagement by residents, tenants, and visitors.
Since its launch in 2008, KAFD has become a world-class business and lifestyle destination measuring 1.6 million square meters with 1.4 million square meters of Grade A office area. It houses 19 regional headquarters and more than 140 office tenants, Riyadh's largest metro station, an advanced conference center, and Guinness World Record-holding largest continuous pedestrian skyway network. With a monorail system going live in 2027, demand for advanced cybersecurity is destined to escalate.
Sharaf Alzahrani, Sirar by STC Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted the significance of this collaboration in securing key infrastructure. "Our solutions guarantee the reliability and sustainability of smart spaces, allowing organizations to navigate through changing digital threats," he said. Abdulelah Altayeb, KAFD DMC's Chief Governance and Risk Officer, added, This partnership reaffirms our vision for creating a secure, future-proof smart city environment, enhancing the Kingdom's status as a financial and technology center of the world.
