Following a high-level meeting in Yeouido, Seoul, between LG Electronics and NVIDIA AI, their strategic cooperation has been greatly deepened in support of their shared initiative to reshape industries via AI and advanced manufacturing. The attendees included Kwang Mo Koo, Chairman and CEO of LG Corp., and Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA and other senior executives from both companies. Key topics covered during this meeting included how mid to long term cooperation can accelerate innovation in the physical AI, infrastructure, and mobility sectors. This partnership will combine NVIDIA’s excellent AI technology with LG’s years of manufacturing experience and large base of accumulated production expertise to rapidly roll out intelligent solutions in both consumer and industrial settings using LG’s wealth of life data assets collected through touchpoints with its customers globally and the advanced AI platforms produced by NVIDIA.
According to Koo during the meeting, “The blueprint for the AI ecosystem envisioned by NVIDIA matches perfectly to LG’s future direction of providing significant changes to customers’ daily lives and to global industrial sites. With this meeting as the foundation of our partnership we will further build on it by leveraging each company’s unique capabilities.”
Huang emphasized Korea's distinctive strengths in manufacturing, mechatronics, and artificial intelligence. "The fusion of these strengths will make robotics and physical AI a major growth sector for the country," he stated. "NVIDIA's DSX and Physical AI solutions enable LG to expand its leadership from homes and vehicles into factories and AI Infrastructure, with all new revenue potential across intelligent systems." The collaboration will focus on three specific strategic areas. To begin with, these two companies have plans to create a new universal smart factory standard through the development of an autonomous manufacturing ecosystem wherein all aspects of procurement, production, logistics, and delivery to the end user will operate seamlessly utilizing real-time data and AI-based integration capabilities.
Next, both companies will continue the development of next-generation robotics solutions, utilizing NVIDIA's GR00T robotic foundation model for next-gen robotics. This partnership spans the entire lifecycle of the robotics development process, including data collection, simulation, training, and deployment of both humanoid and logistics robotic applications. LG Innotek will provide its excellent optical technologies to build high-performance sensing modules and optical components that are fully optimized for NVIDIA's AI Infrastructure. LG CNS is building out an entire ecosystem designed to facilitate the widespread use of AI robotic solutions in both manufacturing and logistics environments. The "PhysicalWorks" industrial platform, with the integration of NVIDIA's Isaac open robotics frameworks, Cosmos open world models, and GR00T engineering foundations, is designed to accelerate AI transformations across manufacturing and logistics.
Business Honor is of the view that LG and NVIDIA's expanded strategic partnership represents a transformative shift in integrated AI-driven manufacturing innovation and robotics ecosystem development capabilities.
