CERC formed a committee to evaluate extended deadlines for renewable energy and storage projects.
The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) formed a special committee to investigate extended deadlines for energy storage and renewable energy projects recently in New Delhi, India. Due to unexpected reasons, ones missed their Scheduled Commercial Operation Date (SCOD). Based on Regulation 13(2)(h) of the altered CERC Regulations.
Based on the modified rule, battery energy storage systems (ESS) and renewable energy generating stations (REGS) that use wind, solar, or a combination of energy sources remain to be approved for interstate transfer charge waivers even when they miss SCOD, provided that the delay is caused by unexpected events or other unforeseen events.
For such projects to keep the waiver, COD must be achieved within the time limit given. Up to two extensions, each lasting six months, will be given. Sh. Indu Shekhar Jha, a previous CERC member, is the head of the committee. Its members include Ms. Anjuli Chandra, Sh. A.K. Rajput, and the COO of CTUIL, who serves as convenor. In addition, CTUIL will provide administrative support.
Project developers should submit an application regarding the delay to the committee through CTUIL's Gurugram office, along with the required copies. Within three months of examining each case, the committee will submit its conclusions to the CERC. After that, the Commission will make a decision. Supporting India to achieve 500 GW of clean energy by 2030 and a stronger and more flexible power system. By supporting developers to handle unexpected challenges and benefit from administrative changes.
