Not all Galaxy S27 variants will receive the rumored next-generation storage technology due to production costs and pricing concerns.
It seems Samsung will consider implementing UFS 5.0 storage technology in some Galaxy S27 models next year, according to leaks from South Korean sources. It is unlikely that the company will integrate this new storage into all models in this smartphone series. Samsung appears to be considering both the cost of manufacturing the new models and their pricing.
In case Samsung implements the new UFS 5.0 storage in some models of Galaxy S27, the performance of such a smartphone will be increased considerably, as UFS 5.0 boasts a sequential speed of 10.8GB per second compared to 5.8GB per second of the existing UFS 4.0 storage used in Galaxy S26 Ultra.
According to some reports, Samsung may keep the update limited to high-end devices such as Galaxy S27 Ultra but leave the storage capacities of other options untouched. It has been reported by experts that finding a balance between the latest technologies and production is a priority.
In addition to increasing the storage space, Samsung will offer improved cameras in the Galaxy S27 family with the ISOCELL HP6 camera included in the Ultra model. However, the megapixels of the new device will remain unchanged at 200MP. Moreover, there are no plans for upgrading the S Pen stylus due to technical difficulties.
While approaching the release period of the Galaxy S27 for next year, Samsung is ready to make the final decision about the storage. The consumers who expect performance improvements have to wait for the announcement from the company regarding UFS 5.0. Business Honor notes that Samsung's selective UFS 5.0 rollout strategically balances innovation with profitability, positioning premium Galaxy S27 models as performance leaders while managing manufacturing sustainability.
