ACWA Power leads Saudi-Europe green energy push, advancing Vision 2030 and global sustainability goals.
To enhance global energy and utility infrastructure, ACWA Power signed various agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with foreign partners for building a Green Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Export value chain from Saudi Arabia to Europe. These deals were signed during a high-level workshop in Riyadh, which was graced by the presence of Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Energy.
The workshop gathered Saudi Arabia's senior government officials, Greece, France, and Germany, and leading executives from international energy companies, underscoring the Kingdom's growing global leadership in renewable energy and its determination to drive the diversification of its energy mix. The project forms part of Saudi Arabia's strategic contribution to the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) aimed at boosting cross-regional energy interconnection.
An important multi-party MoU was also signed with major European energy players such as Edison S.p.A., TotalEnergies Renewables SAS, Zhero Europe B.V., and EnBW. The cooperation will investigate the possibility of developing major renewable energy projects in Saudi Arabia to export electricity to Europe, a major move towards transcontinental integrated energy supply chains.
As part of Saudi Vision 2030 and its dedication to international energy security, the Kingdom will spend more than $100 billion to develop and strengthen its power infrastructure. ACWA Power also signed technical MoUs with its strategic technology partners—CESI, Prysmian, GE Vernova, Siemens Energy, and Hitachi—to enhance grid reliability and the efficiency of energy transmission.
A Joint Development Agreement with EnBW will prioritize the development of the Yanbu Green Hydrogen Hub by 2030, combining renewable power production, desalination, and export infrastructure to serve global demand for clean energy. The efforts mark the increasing position of Saudi Arabia in the global utility and energy arena, especially in renewable power generation and the development of cross-border infrastructure.
