Panchkula launches Integrated Command Centre to improve smart infrastructure and urban governance.
The Haryana government has sanctioned the establishment of an Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) in Panchkula which represents a substantial improvement in urban governance and infrastructure and an important step toward creating smarter cities. The center will serve as the city's digital nerve center and is expected to open in nine months with an investment of ₹208.92 crore.
By combining different civic duties less than one roof, the ICCC hopes to facilitate real-time monitoring, effective service delivery and quicker emergency response. It will combine services that were formerly handled separately by various departments such as street lighting, water supply, garbage disposal, public safety and traffic control.
Panchkula's traffic enforcement and surveillance systems are currently very manual and dispersed. Emergency responses are handled through disconnected helplines and public safety monitoring is minimal. By using smart technology to close these gaps, the ICCC will improve responsiveness throughout the city and streamline processes.
The project was authorized at the third meeting of the Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority (PMDA), which was chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The PMDA authorized a ₹587.94 crore budget for 2025–2026 in addition to the ICCC which includes investments in smart governance, infrastructure, and beautification.
The creation of a top-notch shooting range, the revitalization of city water streams, and the development of smart roads are other important projects. Major parks, green belts and improved sewage systems are also being developed. Panchkula is at a turning point in its history thanks to this push for smart infrastructure, which will bring the city into line with India's larger goal of tech-driven, sustainable urban growth.
