Mercedes-AMG unveils the AMG GT XX, an electric supercar with 1341 horses, instant charging, and sci-fi looks.
Mercedes-AMG is coming into the future by introducing its first fully electric concept car, the AMG GT XX. The four-door halo model based on the new AMG.EA skateboard architecture, features high-performance features, including a whopping 1341 horsepower and an estimated top speed of 360 km/h. The all-wheel-drive configuration of the car powered by three electric motors provides great power distribution and performance with two rear and one front motor.
The AMG GT XX is based on an 800-volt electric architecture, with ultra-fast charging capabilities of up to 850 kW. The innovative system enables drivers to obtain a range of 399 km after only five minutes of charging, transforming EV charging. A new prototype DC fast charger created in partnership with Alpitronic should be released for the general public, making ultra-fast charging universally accessible. Outside, the AMG GT XX has sleek, contemporary design, albeit with some futuristic add-ons. Its front has a distinctive mouth-shaped grille evoking the design language of Maserati, while the back has six round taillights to remind one of the classic quad exhaust tips of its petrol-powered counterparts. Its design is menacing, complete with a tapering rear end and zero rear glass.
The interior breaks away from traditional Mercedes-EQ with sophisticated cockpit elements, a large pair of screens, and sustainable materials like recycled GT3 racing tire material for the synthetic leather. The driver-focused arrangement of the interior also includes light carbon-fiber seats and a square steering wheel with a racetrack feel. The AMG GT XX is a progressive step for Mercedes-AMG, pairing electric power with race-bred design to produce a new category in the performance automobile market. Its production model will follow next year.
