Girganga Parivar Trust Wins Global CSR & ESG Awards 2025 for Water Conservation

Saurashtra-based NGO honored globally for innovative, community-driven water sustainability work.

Girganga Parivar Trust has earned global recognition by winning the Global CSR & ESG Awards 2025 in Delhi for its pioneering work in water conservation and environmental sustainability. This prestigious award highlights organizations worldwide that demonstrate exceptional contributions to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.

Founded and led by Mr. Dilip Sakhiya, widely regarded as the "Waterman of India," the Trust has transformed water management across Saurashtra through grassroots participation and strategic partnerships. The Trust’s PPT Model—a collaboration between the public, private sector, and the Trust—has become a game-changer in sustainable infrastructure building. Under this model, corporate CSR funds provide machinery, while locals contribute manpower and maintenance.

“This award is not just for us,” said Mr. Sakhiya. “It belongs to every farmer, villager, and young person who worked with us to make water conservation a reality in Saurashtra.”

So far, Girganga Parivar Trust has constructed over 275 check dams and 1,200 recharge bores, significantly improving groundwater levels and ensuring water availability for both agriculture and daily needs.

In a major step forward, the Trust has also signed an MoU with the Ministry of Water, Government of India. This makes it the only organization in India to officially collaborate with the Ministry on large-scale water conservation projects, particularly in arid regions like Gujarat. Their joint efforts will focus on building check dams, promoting rainwater harvesting, and fostering farmer self-reliance.

Looking ahead, the Trust has set an ambitious goal of constructing 11,111 check dams to secure a water-rich future for Saurashtra. Their guiding motto, “Machine Aapki, Mehnat Hamari, Jal Sanrakshan Sabka!” (Your Machine, Our Efforts, Water Conservation for All), continues to inspire collective action.
