Dremio's MCP Server enables AI agents to access, query, and automate enterprise data workflows.
The company behind the intelligent lakehouse platform, Dremio, has announced the release of its new MCP Server for a major step forward in how business access and use big data with AI.
This new open-source tool lets AI agents like Anthropic’s Claude directly explore, query, and retrieve enterprise data in real time without needing manual setup or coding. It’s built on Dremio’s unified semantic layer, meaning AI can understand and work across all data sources in a governed, secure way.
The important part of this launch is the Model Context Protocol (MCP), a new standard developed by Anthropic. MCP allows AI models to connect with data analytics systems, understand available tools, and maintain context through complex workflows. Dremio’s MCP Server is the first major application of this, giving AI direct access to enterprise data while following data governance rules.
By mechanically finding datasets and metadata, converting natural language queries into SQL queries, and carrying out tasks like report generation, customer behavior analysis, and business operation that is computerized takes place all without the need for manual setup or coding as AI agents can work with initiative data with comfort of using the MCP Server.
This version is a part of a broader update from Dremio that helps businesses make data faster, easier, and smarter to use. It features a fully integrated semantic layer and independent performance modification. The significance of it Dremio's MCP Server is one of the solutions that will assist close the gap between raw data and intelligent action as big data and AI use proliferate. This will make enterprise data really available to AI systems. This is big news for the data world for combining AI, big data, and open standards to drive the next generation of smart analytics.
