Change Data Capture CDC Expands Amazon Aurora DSQL Cloud Database Services

Change data capture CDC support arrives in Amazon Aurora DSQL, enabling real-time cloud database services integration, event-driven applications, analytics streaming, and simplified enterprise data synchronization across AWS platforms.

  • Change data capture CDC enables real-time streaming of database changes

  • Aurora DSQL integrates directly with Amazon Kinesis Data Streams

  • AWS removes need for custom streaming pipeline infrastructure

  • Cloud database services now support easier analytics and microservice synchronization

  • CDC preview available across all AWS Regions supporting Aurora DSQL

Amazon Aurora DSQL now supports the ability to perform change data capture CDC in preview mode to help companies capture and transmit database changes to Amazon Kinesis Data Streams in near real time. The development improves the capabilities of AWS cloud database services by easing the construction of event-driven architectures and data sync processes. The support for change data capture CDC enables organizations to collect insert, update, and delete transactions as real-time events which can be directed to AWS analytics and automation services without impacting the performance of the databases.

Change Data Capture CDC Simplifies Real-Time Data Streaming

The change data capture CDC functionality automatically captures and transmits the database transactional data to Amazon Kinesis Data Streams to help companies develop event-driven applications without requiring the management of complex middleware. According to AWS, the ability to perform CDC in Aurora DSQL helps remove the operational challenges associated with streaming data in addition to lowering infrastructure costs for cloud-native architecture-based organizations.

Cloud Database Services Gain Stronger Analytics Integration

The recent release of the Aurora DSQL allows AWS to expand its cloud database services with the integration of Amazon S3, Amazon Redshift, Amazon OpenSearch Service, and AWS Lambda. Amazon Data Firehose will allow streaming the captured data into analytics systems, automating downstream processing and synchronizing distributed microservices architectures in real-time. The new capability will make Aurora DSQL more appealing as a solution for organizations using modern data engineering and streaming architecture approaches.

AWS Expands Enterprise Data Synchronization Capabilities

AWS highlighted that the CDC functionality will not impact the database performance or latencies, making it suitable for enterprise-level applications. The preview version is now available in all AWS regions where Aurora DSQL is available. The pricing is based on Distributed Processing Units (DPUs) in addition to the Amazon Kinesis Data Streams pricing model. With an increasing need for real-time analytics and cloud-native synchronization among enterprises, AWS is continuously growing its cloud database services portfolio.
