New digital tools streamline design, boost collaboration, and enhance aerospace manufacturing precision.
Bombardier, a global leader in aviation, is taking a major step toward the future of aerospace engineering through an expanded partnership with Siemens Digital Industries Software. Announced on April 17, 2025, the collaboration will see Bombardier integrate more tools from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio to streamline aircraft development and enhance engineering efficiency across its business jet programs.
With the adoption of Siemens’ NX software for 3D modeling and simulation, along with Capital software for electronic systems design, Bombardier is reinforcing its shift toward a unified digital development process. The company already uses Siemens' Teamcenter software for product lifecycle management (PLM), and this expansion enables the creation of a seamless digital thread throughout the aircraft lifecycle—from initial concept to manufacturing.
“This integrated approach enables us to transform our development capabilities, delivering innovation faster and more efficiently,” said Glenn Chapnik, Bombardier’s Senior Director of Engineering Projects and Processes. “The Siemens Xcelerator portfolio supports our drive toward digital optimization and cross-disciplinary collaboration.”
A key addition to Bombardier’s digital toolkit is the Mendix low-code application platform, which allows internal teams to build custom applications that connect systems and simplify workflows. The first application developed using Mendix has improved user efficiency by enhancing Teamcenter’s data search functionality.
According to Todd Tuthill, Vice President of Aerospace & Defense Industry at Siemens, Bombardier’s investment is a testament to the power of digitalization. “Their expanded adoption of Siemens Xcelerator reflects the value of a cohesive engineering environment where performance, precision, and speed converge,” he said.
In addition to technology integration, Bombardier and Siemens are partnering to shape the next generation of talent by providing engineering students with access to Siemens software—a move aimed at strengthening workforce readiness in the aerospace industry.
Together, the companies are setting a new standard for how digital transformation can drive innovation, improve collaboration, and advance sustainability in aviation manufacturing.
