Acquisition strengthens IBM’s ERP offerings with advanced cloud and data engineering expertise.
IBM has announced that it is acquiring Hakkoda, a leading U.S.-based data advisory with expertise in Snowflake-based cloud data services. The strategic acquisition will help to further IBM's data modernization, cloud transformation, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) services capabilities. The acquisition reflects IBM's continued focus on strengthening its consulting business, especially in areas most critical to digital transformation and enterprise productivity.
With success in deployment expertise and building large data platforms, Hakkoda has data engineers with hands-on experience, cloud architects, and consultants under its expertise. Having knowledge of complex data stacks, particularly Snowflake implementations, would be best suited to meet IBM's growing need for end-to-end ERP systems addressing scalability, governance, and analytics concerns.
With Hakkoda's know-how and resources on board, IBM Consulting will be able to provide more comprehensive ERP transformation solutions to customers across healthcare, financial services, and manufacturing. The objective is to help businesses modernize their existing systems, streamline data flows, and adopt cloud-based ERP solutions that enable real-time decision-making and business agility.
The purchase also further fortifies IBM as a leader in helping clients to manage complex data environments while harmonizing ERP plans with business outcomes. As more and more companies seek to move beyond legacy on-premise-based ERP systems toward cloud-native applications, IBM's new capabilities place it as a first-choice partner in this evolution.
The purchase of Hakkoda into IBM's consulting division is also another convergence with IBM's strategic wager on data and AI, offering measurable value to customers that must revamp enterprise infrastructure. The transaction is also a reflection of growing interlinking between data engineering, cloud innovation, and ERP modernization in today's digital-first business ecosystem.
IBM has not disclosed the terms of the agreement. The deal will close later this year, pending customary approvals.
