Ludhiana's redevelopment projects aim for smart living

Ludhiana is set for a major transformation with new infrastructure projects focusing on smart city development, healthcare, and sustainability.

Ludhiana, often referred to as the "Manchester of India," is going to be given a massive facelift in 2025 since the city will witness a string of new infrastructures targeted at accelerating its development process. The most ambitious project is the new international airport, which is expected to open in April 2025, as its construction has started with an investment of Rs 5,822.12 lakh. The city's Ludhiana railway station's redevelopment is nearly complete, but it comes at a heavy cost of Rs 528.95 crore. Upgrades are even being done for Dhandari Kalan stations to make traveling easier.

As part of Ludhiana's ambitious Smart City project, 83 initiatives have been taken on to further the improvement of public services in every nook and corner of the city. The major focus of the projects would be on improving the delivery of key services like a 24-hour water supply system, improved health care facilities, and upgrading transport systems. In this context, the Rs 3,394.45 crore water supply project aims to transform the city's distribution system, where people can drink water 24/7, without interruptions.

Improvement is going to be seen in the healthcare sector in Ludhiana. Investments by the public sector are going to construct a new medical college, upgrade facilities at the district hospital, and ESIC. These shall hold an important place in enhancing health infrastructure and offering improved medical services to the city's population.

Due to their investments in smart infrastructure and urban development, Ludhiana shall be seen entering an appropriate stage in progress. It will undoubtedly boost the economy and upgrade the quality of life for its people.
