New tool leverages LinkedIn's vast data to source candidates and streamline screening, with plans for broader rollout.

LinkedIn has introduced a new artificial intelligence-powered tool called "Hiring Assistant," aimed at transforming how recruiters source candidates and conduct screenings. The tool, which was launched on Tuesday, helps hiring professionals streamline their processes by offering personalized outreach and learning from their feedback.

The AI agent is designed to assist recruiters by creating hiring plans, sourcing candidates, and analyzing search results. Unlike traditional methods that simply generate lists of potential candidates, Hiring Assistant can engage with recruiters by asking for specific details, such as outlining the role they want to fill or describing their ideal candidate.

Hari Srinivasan, vice president of product at LinkedIn Talent Solutions, explained that the tool has been in use internally and is currently available to a select group of charter customers. Over the coming year, LinkedIn plans to expand access to the tool, which will be offered as an add-on to its Recruiter product. Although pricing has not yet been revealed, the feature promises to be a powerful addition to LinkedIn’s hiring toolkit.

One of the standout features of Hiring Assistant is its ability to learn from its interactions with recruiters. The AI agent is equipped with “experiential memory,” allowing it to improve and adapt over time. As recruiters provide feedback, the assistant becomes better at understanding their preferences and refining its candidate sourcing and outreach strategies.

Erran Berger, lead product engineer at LinkedIn, emphasized that the AI assistant aims to enhance efficiency while maintaining a personalized touch. The tool can even handle bulk outreach with customized messaging, making it easier for recruiters to connect with a larger pool of candidates while still targeting the right individuals.

While AI recruiting tools have been introduced by competitors, LinkedIn believes its extensive data collection sets the Hiring Assistant apart. The company has committed to using unbiased models to ensure that all recruiters—regardless of industry or region—can find the right talent based on skills and experience. To address concerns about bias in AI, LinkedIn ensures that every action taken by the Hiring Assistant is logged and audited, similar to how a human recruiter’s actions would be tracked.

Berger noted that while the tool is already functional, LinkedIn is committed to refining the technology based on feedback from early users. The company plans to continuously innovate and improve the tool to meet the evolving needs of recruiters.

LinkedIn’s Hiring Assistant marks an exciting step forward in AI-driven recruitment. As the tool continues to evolve and gain traction among charter customers, LinkedIn is focused on making it the most effective tool for recruiters. With the backing of LinkedIn’s vast data resources, Hiring Assistant has the potential to become a game-changer in how organizations approach talent acquisition.
