Ishan Chatterjee joins JioCinema as Chief Revenue Officer after a 13-year career at Google.
JioCinema, an owned unit of Viacom18, has welcomed Ishan Chatterjee to the board as Chief Revenue Officer, while at Google, for the first time, for over 13 years, is ending this long relationship to assume his new responsibility. Previously managing YouTube India as MD, he leaves Google, now in his new position, a culmination of experience for which Ishan held different crucial roles and significantly added to Europe and Asia during his stay with the company. Chatterjee was Managing Director of Product Partnerships for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region at YouTube before joining YouTube India. His vast experience in the digital and media sectors is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening JioCinema's market position.
Chatterjee's appointment closely follows the JioCinema's hiring of former Country Director at Amazon Prime Video, Sushant Sreeram, who has recently joined as its Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Both of them will work under Kiran Mani, Digital Ventures CEO of Viacom18. These developments indicate that the company is really looking to surge ahead in presence and leadership roles in the digitally competitive entertainment field in India as well as further afield.
JioCinema, growing rapidly in the digital streaming space, has not made any official comment about the appointment of Chatterjee. However, this can be helpful to the platform to generate more revenues and increase the viewership base.
Chatterjee further adds to the breadth of experience in his background with stints at McKinsey & Company as well as at Hindustan Unilever. His immense understanding of both technologies and entertainment related businesses will enable JioCinema to see its growth streak continue.
