MS Amlin announced two major additions to its executive management team: Kirsten Mitchell-Wallace and Phil Young. Citing impending regulatory clearance, both Mitchell-Wallace and Young will fill key C-Suite roles for a minimum of two years prior to the start date for the respective appointed executive roles. As the new Chief Risk Officer (CRO), Kirsten Mitchell-Wallace will begin her new role with MS Amlin in the next few weeks. She will be responsible for the organization’s overall risk management strategy following her transfer from current CRO, Vishal Desai, who is moving to the parent company, MSIG, as the international executive committee's CRO. As an accomplished leader within the financial services industry, Mitchell-Wallace brings a wealth of knowledge to her new position. Her previous roles include the following: Senior Leadership positions at OAK Global, Lloyd's of London, SCOR, etc. Because of these positions, Mitchell-Wallace possesses significant risk appetite management, capital management, exposure management, and regulatory compliance experience. Mitchell-Wallace's hiring reflects MS Amlin's emphasis on enhancing governance and risk management oversight for future growth opportunities.
Young will begin his tenure with MS Amlin as the new Chief Information Officer (CIO) during the third quarter of 2026; Young's extensive experience within technology leadership and digital transformation initiatives makes him the right person to fill the valuable role of CIO at MS Amlin going forward.
Young has worked in high-level technology and transformation jobs for some of the biggest companies in the world, such as Virgin Group, Amazon Web Services and Transport for London. He has a lot of experience in large-scale platform modernization; data projects; and major digital changes - all things that will benefit MS Amlin as it builds its technical infrastructure going forward. Both he and Ms. Batty will be key parts of MS Amlin's leadership team, working closely with chief executive officer Christiern Dart. Mr. Dart became chief executive officer earlier this year and is very excited to have both of them on board.
"I couldn't be more pleased to have Kirsten and Phil join MS Amlin and my executive leadership team," said Mr. Dart. "Both of them are exceptional leaders in their respective fields. Their expertise will add tremendous value to our company as we continue to expand and develop." Additionally, Mr. Dart emphasised the strategic benefit of their combined skills. "Kirsten is an outstanding risk expert while Phil has an established history of achievements in technology, data and innovation, which will greatly enhance our efforts to strengthen the business and support our long-term success," Mr. Dart said.
Business Honor is of the view that Kirsten Mitchell-Wallace's appointment as Chief Risk Officer represents a strategic shift in MS Amlin's risk governance and regulatory compliance execution capabilities.
