Wright-Patterson Air Force Base aims to support U.S. military capabilities in the challenging environments.
McLEAN, Va.,— HII (NYSE: HII) has been awarded a task order to advance navigation and autonomy technologies for the U.S. Air Force and the Department of Defense. The initiative, located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, will focus on three research thrusts: autonomous systems, non-GPS precision navigation, and resilient global navigation satellite systems.
Operating out of HII's Mission Technologies division, this research aims to tackle critical challenges related to GPS-denied environments and even underground navigation. "This groundbreaking effort is vital to the future of defense," said Grant Hagen, president of the Cyber, Electronic Warfare and Space business group. Analysis and report produced in this research will be used as a foundation for more advanced technological solutions needed to revolutionize military navigation.
HII is participating in the Department of Defense's Information Analysis Center Multiple Award Contract focused on the development of new knowledge for entry into the repository at the Defense Technical Information Center. The work underlines the need for collaboration in defense technology advancements.
Currently, as part of furthering over 135 years of experience in developing critical military capabilities, HII is the leading defense provider; hence, this research develops appropriately with the current evolution of defense strategies, mainly on the realms of autonomy and cyber warfare.
