Hail Mary Magic Not Enough: Bills Defeat Jets on Monday Night

Defeated, Victory, Quarter, Touchdown

The Buffalo Bills defeated the New York Jets 23-20, overcoming a Hail Mary from Aaron Rodgers

The Buffalo Bills edged the New York Jets 23-20 in a penalty-laden game on Monday night. Who saw that a Hail Mary at the end of the first half by Aaron Rodgers would give way to the Bills snapping their two-game losing streak and improved to 4-2.

Bills kicker Tyler Bass sealed the win with a 22-yard field goal in the last three minutes and also got his hands on a Rodgers pass in the final two minutes. Josh Allen put on quite a show, completing 19 of 25 for 215 yards and two touchdowns, and ran one into the end zone himself in the first quarter. It is Allen's 21st game with multiple passing touchdowns and at least one score through running, which places him on the all-time level with Cam Newton.

New York got off to a flying start, taking a 10-7 lead into the first quarter after scoring a field goal and a touchdown on its first two possessions. Buffalo responded with touchdown passes from Allen to receiver Mack Hollins and tight end Dawson Knox.

It was Rodgers's fourth career Hail Mary touchdown and the most ever by any NFL player since 1970, coming on a 52-yard connection to Allen Lazard just as halftime approached. From there, however, things spiraled for the Jets as kicker Greg Zuerlein missed two field goals in the fourth quarter and they went to 2-4.
