Keychain, founded by Oisin Hanrahan and Umang Dua, is transforming consumer goods manufacturing with its groundbreaking platform. The startup, which launched in February 2024 following an $18 million seed round, aims to bridge the gap between brands and the manufacturers who produce their goods. Usually, consumer brands have been disconnected from the actual manufacturing processes, owning only their brand identity and marketing functions. Keychain seeks to change this dynamic by offering a platform where brands can identify and engage with manufacturers directly.

Hanrahan, who previously co-founded Handy, highlighted the platform’s capabilities by demonstrating how users can search for products like granola and yogurt to find their manufacturers. This feature allows retailers and new brands to explore partnerships for creating private label products or developing healthier, more sustainable options.

Since its launch, Keychain has made significant steps, including indexing over 763,000 products from 24,000 manufacturers using AI and data aggregation. The platform has already facilitated $500 million in manufacturing demand and attracted notable clients like Rich Products and Aura Bora.

Keychain’s expansion includes a new office in Austin and the recruitment of industry veterans such as Mitchell Madoff, formerly of Whole Foods. Hanrahan aims to build a comprehensive software layer that connects every part of the supply chain, from manufacturing to packaging, addressing market demands driven by trade policies and consumer preferences for customized products.
