This new system reflects the industry's shift towards IP-based delivery, offering a smooth migration path from traditional satellite to hybrid and IP deployments
Harmonic (NASDAQ: HLIT) has unveiled DMS X, a SaaS-based version of its Distribution Management System™ designed for the XOS advanced media processor. Operating on the public cloud, DMS X offers broadcasters and content providers secure and scalable management of video distribution across satellite, managed IP, and open internet delivery networks.
DMS X is set to transform primary distribution workflows, allowing remote management of playout, ad insertion, and content localization. It also supports 4K HDR formats, providing unparalleled control and scalability. This new system reflects the industry's shift towards IP-based delivery, offering a smooth migration path from traditional satellite to hybrid and IP deployments. Central to DMS X's appeal is its flexible business model, where users pay only for what they use, combined with the assurance of 24/7 monitoring by Harmonic's dedicated DevOps team. This ensures high reliability and continuous updates, making it a robust solution for modern content distribution needs.
Gil Rudge, Harmonic’s SVP of products and Americas sales, highlighted the company’s decade-long leadership in primary distribution, emphasizing that DMS X brings industry-first playout control capabilities to the SaaS environment. The system's ability to manage over 10,000 XOS media processors from a centralized interface underscores its scalability. Harmonic will present DMS X and other innovations at IBC2024 in Amsterdam from Sept. 13-16. This launch marks a significant step forward in the evolution of video content distribution, reinforcing Harmonic's leadership in the industry.
