ICC breaks records with its prize money for the T20 Men’s World Cup

India, led by Rohit Sharma received $2.45 million in cash price

ICC stated that it has a record-breaking prize fund of $11.25 million for this tournament. India secured the major share of the prize money by securing the T20 World Cup Trophy at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

With 40 matches in the first round, the tournament led to the Super 8s followed by the finals in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana. In the epic win against South Africa, India, led by Rohit Sharma received $2.45 million in cash price. ICC chief executive Geoff Allardyce described this as "historic" and highlighted the significance of rewarding players in fair amounts. For their outstanding overall performance in the tournament, South Africa, the spirited runners-up earned $1.28 million. England and Afghanistan, who lost in the semi-finals, took home $787,500 each. Teams which did not qualify beyond the second round received $382,500 and those ranked between ninth and twelfth received $247,500 each. $225,000 was awarded to teams ranking from 13th to 20th and additionally each team received $31,154 for each winning match, excluding the finals and the semi-finals.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, apart from delivering an exciting cricket experience, set a new benchmark for rewarding the players with their record- breaking price money.
