SAP's sets high demand for business planning software and strategic transformation projects fuel the company's 25% quarterly jump in cloud revenue.
Profitable results in the second quarter were announced by the biggest software manufacturer in Europe, SAP mainly due to growth in its cloud business. Slightly above expectations of 8.25 billion euros, the company's overall revenue increased by 10% to 8.29 billion euros ($9.02 billion). SAP's primary emphasis area, cloud revenue, came in at 4.15 billion euros, matching the median analyst projection.
CEO Christian Klein showed confidence in achieving faster revenue growth through 2027 and highlighted SAP's ongoing transformation efforts towards Business AI leadership. Expecting greater efficiency as a result of its transformation activities, the business revised its operational profit objective for 2025 from 10 billion euros to 10.2 billion euros.
Despite the company's strong revenue performance, SAP's quarterly operating profit decreased by 11% to 1.22 billion euros. The majority of this decline—600 million euros—was attributed to restructuring expenditures. SAP unveiled a 2 billion euro reorganization effort earlier this year with the goal of enabling voluntary layoffs and retraining staff in AI skills.
