Alexis Lanternier becomes the CEO of Deezer in an effort to foster innovation and growth in the rapidly changing music streaming sector.
Alexis Lanternier will take over as CEO of Deezer as of September 2, 2024, the company has announced. After holding positions at significant digital and e-commerce platforms, Lanternier takes over as interim CEO, replacing Stu Bergen.
Lanternier, previously co-founder of Branded and EVP of Walmart Canada eCommerce, is known for his success in scaling businesses across Europe, Asia, and North America. His prior leadership at Alibaba Group’s Lazada, where he steered the company to market leadership and launched notable initiatives like the LiveUp loyalty subscription, highlights his expertise in driving transformative growth.
Deezer's board expressed enthusiasm for Lanternier's appointment, noting his impressive background and vision for the company. Iris Knobloch, Chair of the Board, emphasized Lanternier's ability to lead Deezer through the evolving music streaming landscape, aiming to capitalize on opportunities and enhance user experiences.
With an emphasis on balanced artist compensation and engaging music experiences, Deezer hopes to use its position as a trailblazing French tech firm to assist significant changes in the worldwide music industry under Lanternier's direction.
Deezer revealed that its user base had grown by 12.8% to 10.5 million, while its Q1 2024 revenues had jumped by 14.2% to €132.5 million. The employment of Lanternier is expected to significantly help the company's expansion and innovation.
