The UK consulting sector further reinforced its dominance globally in 2025 due to growing international demand and earning more through exports, thus making the country a major hub for consulting services. According to the recently released industry report, UK Consulting export growth in 2025 has been exceeding the growth rate of the business services sector overall.
According to a study done by the Management Consultancies Association (MCA) together with Oxford Economics, the rising global demand for UK consulting services helped increase exports by 9% year on year. Currently, the exports contribute 31% of the consulting fee income, an indication of the growing international reach of the sector.
According to the MCA Annual Industry Report 2026, the consulting income was reported to have grown by 3% in 2025 and reached £21.8 billion, up from £20.4 billion in the previous year. The growth in the sector is expected to continue as the companies anticipate their income to grow by 6% in 2026 and 8% in 2027.
North America and Europe both made up 10% of export earnings, with the Asia-Pacific region making up 4%, the Middle East and Africa making up 3%, and South America contributing 2%. In the United Kingdom, more than 60% of consulting firms earn money outside their borders.
Furthermore, the industry is confident that business will grow. 88% of consulting firms are expecting growth in 2026, and nearly all are expecting growth in 2027. The large firms earned 77% of the consulting revenues in 2025, with the medium-sized firms earning 20% and the small firms 3%.
Employment in the industry increased as well. Member firms of the MCA have hired over 5,400 new staff members in the year, which includes a 10% boost in graduate recruitment and a 31% increase in recruitment of apprentices. Firms have recruited professionals to cope with increasing client demand in the fields of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital transformation, and advanced data analytics.
Further, the report revealed that firms are making efforts towards improving their workforce, and thus, on average, consultants receive seven days of professional training in a year. There was an increase of 55% in the number of Chartered Management Consultants, which exceeded 2,800 accredited professionals.
The performance of the industry has been appreciated by government officials, who called the consulting industry a big success for British exports. Business Honor believes the continued expansion of UK consulting exports demonstrates how specialist expertise, digital transformation and international trust are strengthening Britain's position in the global professional services market.
