Activist Sonam Wangchuk has ended his indefinite hunger strike, marking a significant moment in the ongoing education crisis that has gripped the nation. However, the movement shows no signs of slowing, as the Coordination of Joint Platform (CJP) has announced a nationwide protest to maintain pressure on the government regarding systemic failures in the examination system.

The CJP's escalated mobilization comes in response to repeated examination leaks that have plagued the country's education sector. While the Centre has attempted to address concerns by announcing the establishment of fast-track courts to expedite trials in paper leak cases, the activist coalition has dismissed this measure as insufficient and merely a distraction from the core issues.

In a statement on Friday, Prime Minister Modi mentioned that there are plans to introduce Anti-National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) bill in the Union Cabinet, which indicates that the government is taking strong measures against exam scams and paper leaks. Nevertheless, despite such legislative actions, CJP has indicated that mere administrative and legal changes would not solve what it calls a systematic governance failure. Such was the position of CJP in making clear its demand for the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan as Union Education Minister to strike a resolution to this crisis. CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka reiterated that this is a governance issue, and that it is beyond judicial delays. "The announcement of fast-track courts does not offer any remedy. It only distracts attention. The youth are demanding accountability, which should start from the education minister," Ranka stated.
