Duchess of Sussex Controversy: The participation of Meghan Markle in an episode of MasterChef Australia has caused a lot of controversy, resulting in viewers’ threats to stop watching the program. The 44-year-old Duchess will act as a guest judge for a MasterChef episode set to be aired on July 26 on Channel 10, an episode that she filmed during her trip to Australia in April. In its announcement of the upcoming episode and its promotion on social media on the 14ennh of Jul, Channel 10 stated, “Meghan will bring her love of food, entertaining, and seasonal produce to one of MasterChef's most exciting challenges."  Far from being excited about the news, viewers did not feel a bit pleased. In the comments section, many of the users declared their intention to refuse to watch the Nigella. For example, one of them wrote, “I will definitely skip it," while one more user said the same: "I love watching MasterChef, but I won't be watching it with this lady." The couple, who relocated to California six years prior, remains legally permitted to use the titles they received upon their marriage in May 2018 by the late Queen Elizabeth, though they ceased using the HRH designation after stepping back from their roles.

The backlash extends beyond the title dispute, with some viewers describing the duchess as "so nauseating" and expressing relief that the episode would not air in certain regions. "Thanks for the heads up and making it easier to avoid," one user wrote.

The controversy arrives on the heels of significant professional setbacks for Markle. Her own cooking and lifestyle series was cancelled after two seasons earlier this year, following the conclusion of her deal with a major streaming platform without renewal. An insider revealed that the platform "put millions behind this deal" but "didn't see a return whatsoever."

Staff members at the streaming service reportedly had negative experiences collaborating with Markle on the project. "There are a lot of people who really did not enjoy working with Meghan on With Love, and there is no love lost between Meghan and the company," one staff member claimed.

Despite the commercial disappointment, Markle and Harry's 2020 streaming deal, valued at $100 million, continues to reflect their broader pivot away from royal life. Though her cooking series received limited viewership, it earned a Daytime Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Lifestyle Program category, demonstrating some industry recognition despite the platform's apparent dissatisfaction with the arrangement.

Business Honor is of the view that Meghan Markle's MasterChef Australia appearance represents a strategic pivot in her post-royal entertainment positioning and brand rehabilitation efforts.
