Kerala Assembly Election Results show shifting trends as BJP secures key wins while UDF maintains strong overall lead across the state.
Results of Kerala Assembly Elections 2026 revealed that BJP had bagged two crucial constituencies as counting went on at over 140 centers in the state. Results of Kerala Assembly Elections pointed out that Rajeev Chandrashekhar emerged victorious from Nemom constituency, while B.B. Gopakumar emerged winner from Chathannur, even as UDF retained its overall statewide lead.
BJP contestant B.B. Gopakumar won the Chathannur constituency seat with over 4,000 votes beating CPI contestant R. Rajendran. In addition to this, Rajeev Chandrashekhar led with over 2,800 votes in Nemom constituency seat against CPI(M) contestant V. Sivankutty and Congress contestant K.S. Sabarinadhan. Trends emerging during early counting rounds reflected BJP leads in five seats before witnessing changes due to multiple rounds of counting.
Officials involved in the Kerala Assembly Election Results process confirmed that counting was being carried out strictly under the supervision of the Election Commission. “Postal ballot papers have been counted first according to procedure followed by rounds of EVMs at all centers,” officials clarified. Political commentators have interpreted BJP gains as a sign of “selective but strong urban consolidation.”
The Kerala Assembly Election Results 2026 result from an intense fight among the incumbent LDF, opposition UDF, and BJP-led NDA. The counting process started at 8:00 am in 43 centers, and the strongrooms were open by 6:30 am. While trends indicate an advantage for the UDF, seat-wise variation made the end result unpredictable. As Kerala Assembly Election Results progress, final results would be revealed only after completion of all counting cycles.

Current Situation
The situation in Kerala’s election results 2026 is becoming much clearer now. The Congress led United Democratic Front (UDF) is not just ahead anymore. It has passed the halfway mark and is now in a strong position to form the government in the 140 member Kerala Assembly.
According to the latest Election Commission trends the UDF is leading in 82 seats which puts it comfortably above the majority mark. This gives it a clear advantage in the overall count and places it in control of the current trend.
Within the alliance, the Indian National Congress is leading in 55 seats making it the single largest party in the state at this stage. Its ally, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) is also performing strongly with leads in 20 seats. Together, they form the main support base of the UDF’s current position.
On the other side, the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) is trailing with leads in 51 seats. The CPI(M) itself is ahead in 30 seats while the Communist Party of India (CPI) is leading in 11 seats. These numbers show the LDF is still in the race but clearly behind the UDF in the overall trend.
Congress leaders are already reading the results as a clear message from voters against the current government. Kerala Congress president Sunny Joseph pointed to what he called “anti-people policies” as a key reason for the shift. Other leaders are also saying that anti-incumbency has played a major role in these results.
Congress leader MP Jebi told ANI that the alliance had crossed 89 seats in early trends and was close to a stronger milestone. She said “Just 11 seats to 100.” She also said the results were far beyond what exit polls had predicted. According to her, the people of Kerala have given a clear and decisive mandate to the UDF and Congress and she described the outcome as a reflection of dissatisfaction with the CPI(M) led government.
Some key constituencies are now being closely watched as they may shape the final outcome. These include Nemom, Thrissur, Puthuppally, Palakkad, Vattiyoorkavu and Dharmadom which are now seen as important indicators of the overall direction of the vote.
