The Google AI division chose to highlight "agentic" AI during its yearly Google I/O developers conference, where CEO Sundar Pichai unveiled a new wave of products built using the Gemini 3.5 technology. One of the notable highlights of the event was Gemini Spark – a personal AI assistant that will take on tasks without waiting for prompt input from users.
According to Google, the personal AI assistant is capable of filtering through emails, chat logs, and meeting minutes to create summaries, documents, and to-do lists. The difference between the two assistants is that the latter is always active and running on the cloud without requiring any user interaction.
Google AI Expands Gemini Ecosystem with Advanced Models
Additionally, Google AI confirmed the release of Gemini 3.5 Flash, which emphasizes faster speeds, as well as improved coding and agentic abilities. In this regard, the company noted that the model has become the default system running the Gemini app and AI mode within Google Search.
In particular, Google said that Gemini 3.5 features an improved safety system that ensures a reduction in any negative reactions, providing accurate answers to the questions raised safely. Besides, Google revealed that it is currently testing the new Gemini Pro 3.5 and plans to release it to the public next month.
Further, Google AI announced the creation of a new multimodal system called Gemini Omni, which allows generating real-life videos from any kind of text, image, video, or audio. Moreover, the users may easily edit the videos by using conversational instructions and expect future improvements that include image and audio generation. Finally, the company added that any content generated by Omni will have SynthID digital watermarking technology embedded into it.
Personal AI Assistant to Power Productivity and Chrome Integration
The new personal AI assistant called Gemini Spark is set to be tested with a chosen few users and then rolled out to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S. in beta. Later in the summer, Gemini Spark will become integrated into Google Chrome.
According to Google AI, the new assistant requires permission from users when conducting sensitive actions such as making a purchase or sending an email. The new assistant was described as a means to bring practical AI automation into real life.
In addition to the AI assistant, Google AI also shared news related to Search and shopping features. AI mode search queries have doubled each quarter since its debut and now count over 1 billion monthly active users. Google AI also showcased their intelligent search bar that can handle long complex requests with intelligent suggestions from AI.
Google AI also released Universal Cart, which is an intelligent shopping experience that keeps track of products, their prices, and informs about promotions and availability of restocks in Search, Gmail, YouTube, and Gemini AI services. Business Honor reported that the recent announcements showcase Google AI's determination to lead the emerging market for personal AI assistant technology and agentic AI globally.
