Paga Leadership Restructuring Elevates Founder Tayo Oviosu as Group CEO

– Rohan Pius

Paga leadership restructuring introduces new Group COO role, with founder focusing on geographic expansion and emerging technologies through Paga Labs.

Paga leadership restructuring has been announced, creating an opportunity for Tayo Oviosu, the company's founding CEO, to become the new Group Chief Executive Officer. It will also implement new methods of operational oversight that provide a framework for accountability throughout the organization. This announcement was made via Oviosu's X page on Tuesday. In addition to establishing Tayo as Group CEO, this reorganization reflects the continued transformation of Paga from a startup to an industry leader in Nigeria's mobile money space and outlines the strategic direction of Paga, including both geographical growth and investment in technology enhancements.

Oviosu will transition to the position of Group CEO and Executive Chairman of the Group Board, where he will continue to provide overall governance of the company's strategic direction while taking a step back from the day-to-day operation of Paga in Nigeria. Ope Oyinloye has been appointed to the positions of Group Chief Operating Officer and CEO of Paga Nigeria after more than seven years with the company and will be centrally positioned within the operational focus of Paga within its largest market.

Paga co-founder Jay Alabraba will be in a newly created position emphasizing special projects and providing emphasis on Paga's continued expansion into new markets and development of emerging technologies. Through the restructuring, Paga will achieve clearer operational governance through the creation of a dedicated Group COO position responsible for all existing business units located within Paga's growing portfolio and the governance of said units. The restructuring provides additional evidence of Paga's evolution and future maturity as an organization in support of its growth and diversification objectives.

Having transitioned to the role of Group CEO, Oviosu plans to focus on Paga's entry into new geography and develop innovative technologies using Paga Labs, including stablecoins, cryptocurrency, and applications of artificial intelligence. This change in leadership come as Paga solidifies its strategic position through its recently announced partnership with PayPal.
