Atlanta Falcons Hire Troy Kruchten as Defensive Quality Control Coach

Kruchten joins from Georgia State to bolster the Falcons' coaching staff as they prepare for free agency

The Atlanta Falcons have appointed Troy Kruchten as their new quality control coach as announced by the team on Sunday evening. Kruchten joins the Falcons after a successful period at Georgia State where he recently served as the special teams and nickel cornerbacks assistant and previously as the outside line backers coach in 2025. Kruchten is a rising talent in coaching and has transformed from his playing days as a line backer at the University of Louisiana. After finishing his college football career in 2021 he began his coaching journey at the University of Florida as an assistant. He contributed highly to line backer training and assisted the coordinator gathering valuable experience in areas like film study and game preparation.

Kruchten completed four seasons with the Gators from 2021 to 2024 including working along with the Falcons' new coordinator Patrick Toney. His coaching style and knowledge of the game contribute to a Falcons coaching staff aiming for improvement in the upcoming NFL season. As the Falcons gear up for the start of NFL free agency their roster management will be crucial. Reports are showing that the team may release wide receivers Darnell Mooney and KhaDarel Hodge though official confirmations have not been made yet.

Last season the Falcons saw defensive growth finishing fifteenth in total defense allowing 326.6 yards per game and showed a strong pass defense that set a franchise record for sacks. However they struggled in rushing defense finishing twenty seventh in EPA. With Kruchten's addition the Falcons aim to build on last year’s progress as the team continues to retain its defensive coaching staff under Jeff Ulbrich.
