XEJet and University of Abuja Launch Aerospace Engineering Training Centre

XEJet partners with the University of Abuja to build an aerospace training centre, improving Nigeria’s aviation skills and local engineering talent.

XEJet Limited has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Abuja for the creation of a centre for aerospace and space engineering. With the aim to increase the skills and abilities of Nigeria's aviation and space industries. The new Centre is expected to provide specialized training in aeronautical or aerospace and astronautical and space engineering as a means to support Nigeria's aviation capacity development strategy and develop aerospace engineering education in Nigeria. This demonstrates XEJet's long term commitment to support the establishment of Nigeria as a major player in the Global Aviation Industry through investment in infrastructure and human capital.

The Centre will be delivered in phases with phase one being the refurbishment of existing laboratories or facilities to create better opportunities for practical training and hands-on, technical skills training. In addition, the centre will seek accreditation with the National Universities Commission and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering of Nigeria and to deliver programs based on the international standards and the industry-specific policy of the Outcomes-Based Education Framework.

The partners are now creating an ongoing green academic complex to promote cooperation between the academic and industry partners in the Nigerian aerospace industry and develop greater local aircraft maintenance and engineering talent. As part of this effort, XEJet will provide the top three academic graduates with guaranteed job offers for 10 years. This will help foster greater private sector investment into aviation training in Nigeria. This partnership is an important step in building a sustainable aviation workforce in Africa. Supporting the advancement of innovation and growth in the Nigerian aerospace industry while reducing reliance on imported talent and improving long-term competitiveness.
