In a thrilling victory, Dončić records 33 points, 11 assists, and leads the Lakers past the Mavericks.
In the NBA, Luka Dončić has had an incredible year thus far with his remarkable performance. Not only is he the league's top scorer with a whopping average of 33.4 PPG (Points per Game) but he is also ranked first in the NBA for Free Throw Attempts & Makes per game (6.3 / 6.3). As of this writing, Dončić is only 26 years of age and has undoubtedly established himself as a true star. This is evident through not only his scoring ability, but also his passing ability, which holds true as Dončić ranks third overall in Assists per Game (10.1).
This past Saturday, Dončić played against his previous team; the Los Angeles Lakers at AMC. In the last quarter, and with the Laker’s down 15 points, Luka put together an incredible game. Dončić scored 33 Points, 11 Assists, & 8 Rebounds, leading the Lakers to come back and win the game by a score of 116-110. The victory also marked another milestone for Luka, as he became the youngest player in NBA history to hit 1,500 career three-pointers.
In January, Dončić posted a much healthier 36.3 percent conversion rate on three-point attempts. Many analysts focus on the high volume of contested threes that Dončić shoots, especially those taken from off the dribble, often questioning his shot selection. However, it is that very capability of hitting contested threes that separates him from other players who have a larger percentage of open looks and gives him the ability to turn games in his favor. Fans and analysts continue to monitor the continued evolution of Dončić's game, and there is much anticipation about what he will do this year as he attempts to get the Dallas Mavericks back into contention for a playoff spot and shine a spotlight on the organization.
