Rahul Gandhi Flags Electoral Issues in Germany Talk

In Berlin, Rahul Gandhi alleges vote theft and institutional capture, calling for resistance against government overreach.

Addressing an audience at Hertie School, Berlin, Germany, Rahul Gandhi expressed his concerns on what he termed as the electoral machinery problems faced by India. His address to the audience was in relation to his Topic "Politics is the Art of Listening"; He indicated that voting fraud has been perpetrated in many infrastructures and areas of India including duplicate names being listed on the electoral list.

The Rahul Gandhi lecture in Germany referenced both the latest Haryana Legislative Assembly Election of 2024 and the recent Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election and said that both elections had been mismanaged. He stated that despite the INC being the winning party in both Telangana and Himachal Pradesh, the Election Commission did not take their complaints regarding election integrity seriously. "A Brazilian woman was registered to vote 22 times in Haryana... and we have not received any acknowledgment from them," Rahul Gandhi said to highlight his belief regarding the electoral machinery problems with how elections are carried out in India.

The Congress leader also further accused the Government of India of taking over investigative bodies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and using them politically against those who oppose the ruling party. He described a "wholesale capturing of the institutional structure” of the country, with the majority of investigations directed towards individuals who oppose the current Government.

As Rahul Gandhi described a system of resistance against the institutional capture, he stated that there is an ongoing attack on democracy. "It is not only the BJP we are combating. It is their taking over of the institutional structure of India," he passionately expressed. Rahul Gandhi is visiting Germany to raise awareness of these serious matters and present them as necessary to protect Indian Democracy. His expressions and allegations express a mounting frustration among the opposition about the integrity of our elections and the ability of the institutions to truly operate autonomously.
