The latest figure also follows an earlier dispute over the scale of the problem. In July, Bangladesh's State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam said reports of 5,000 automatic cancellations were inaccurate at that time, putting the official figure at 626. She said cases involving other nationalities had also occurred.

The UAE has not publicly provided a specific explanation for the latest mass cancellations. Migration expert MS Shekil Chowdhury told that document issues, visa renewals, social media activity and security concerns were receiving greater scrutiny amid regional tensions, while stressing that these factors had not been established as the direct cause.
The consequences are substantial. Around 350 affected Bangladeshis gathered at Dhaka's National Press Club and demanded government intervention, financial assistance and rehabilitation. Some requested monthly support of Tk 15,000-20,000 if the crisis continues.
