The project improves Indonesia’s healthcare by increasing diagnostic access, building local expertise, and improving equitable care nationwide.
GE HealthCare has introduced an important healthcare partnership with Indonesia under the Supporting Indonesia’s Health Referral Network (SIHREN) program. Through this project, the business will offer over 300 CT scanners to public healthcare facilities around the country. The aim is to improve access to quality medical services and support better healthcare results for Indonesia's over 280 million people.
The agreement is part of a long-term contract that will install CT scanners at public hospitals all over 38 provinces. This includes hospitals in major cities as well as facilities in rural and remote areas. The procurement process involved a fully open international tender and was guided by the Islamic Development Bank's procurement guidelines, which ensured transparency and fairness.

The program aims to develop Indonesia's national referral network and increase access to diagnostic and treatment services. It focuses on serious health problems like noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), maternity and child health, and possible public health emergencies.
To improve its lasting presence in the country, GE HealthCare has established a local production unit in Bogor. The plant was established in collaboration with PT Kalbe Farma's subsidiary, Forsta. It aims to improve local production, increase supply chain reliability, increase technology transfer, and support the development of Indonesia's skilled healthcare and technical workforce.
