Structural steel frame completed, paving way for roof installation and community-focused stadium features.
The Tennessee Builders Alliance (TBA) has celebrated a major milestone in construction at Nashville's new Nissan Stadium as the structural steel frame reaches topping-out. The placement of the final steel beam above the upper east level marks one of the biggest steps toward the stadium's planned early-2027 opening. Since last March, crews have set more than 12,400 steel beams weighing 18,000 tonnes in total and poured about 98,000 cubic yards of concrete. After about 20 months of construction, the framework of the stadium now encompasses an area of 1.8 million square feet.
Next, the teams will begin installing an ethylene tetrafluoroethylene cable-stayed roof system and continue with enclosure and interior works. The design features a translucent roof with continuous outdoor porches and a 12,000-square-foot community space, meeting both functional and aesthetic goals for the stadium. Throughout this project, TBA and the Tennessee Titans have focused on local employment and business inclusion. Workers have worked more than 3.6 million hours on-site with an average of about 1,800 people each day. Residents from Nashville's Promise Zones accounted for 18.5% of total labor hours worked. Payments to Disadvantaged Business Enterprises, which include nearly 100 women- and minority-owned businesses, surpass $110 million.
TBA principal John Gromos called the achievement the product of collaboration, noting that the project represents “great teamwork, innovation, and commitment.” The TBA joint venture is comprised of Turner Construction, I.C.F. Builders & Consultants, AECOM Hunt, and Polk & Associates Construction.
Tyler Baumgardt, with AECOM Hunt, said the stadium would offer sustained benefits to Middle Tennessee through football games, concerts, and community events, along with serving as an economic driver for growth and regional development.
