Cato Networks introduces a new browser extension, extending zero-trust and SASE security to BYOD and unmanaged devices.
Cato Networks has launched a new browser extension aimed at improving security for unmanaged and BYOD devices in the workplace. Without the need to install additional software, this technology expands the company's zero-trust network access capabilities and secure access service edge (SASE) platform to include personal laptops, contractor devices, and other non-managed endpoints.
Maintaining consistent security has become an important issue for IT teams as more partners and workers access company systems using their personal devices. Because BYOD devices frequently lack the safeguards associated with corporately maintained technology, they could be a source of entry for cybercriminals. This risk is lessened by the new Cato Browser Extension for Google Chrome, which uses the same security and access controls as controlled devices.
It allows organizations to enforce zero-trust policies across all devices under one unified system. That means IT teams don’t need to create separate rules or use extra tools to manage BYOD users. According to Cato’s Chief Product Officer, Ofir Agasi, this solution balances user convenience with strong security. Employees and contractors can connect easily through their web browsers, while IT maintains full control over access and data protection.
The browser extension is part of Cato’s broader SASE platform, which uses a private global network to deliver fast, secure access to applications. By avoiding traditional tools like VPNs and enterprise browsers, Cato aims to simplify operations and improve user experience. The extension is now available and included in Cato’s existing ZTNA licensing as no separate purchase is needed. As BYOD continues to grow, tools like this help businesses secure access from any device, anywhere, without adding complexity.
