IGPDA unites Indian gaming and VFX studios to promote original content and global competitiveness.
The Indian Game Publishers and Developers Association (IGPDA) has been launched as a unified industry body to support India’s Online Gaming Bill and strengthen the country's gaming and visual effects (VFX) sectors. Maharashtra has been selected as the first strategic state partner, with plans to collaborate with the government to develop Mumbai into a global gaming hub through policy support and industry partnerships.
The IGPDA brings together leading Indian gaming companies including Nazara Technologies, Gametion, nCore Games, Reliance Games, SuperGaming, Tara Gaming, underDOGS Studio, Aeos Games, and Dot9 Games. Their goals include promoting original Indian intellectual property (IP), building skills across Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR), and enabling Indian studios to create globally competitive AAA titles.
In order to promote skill development and invention in creative technologies, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, the Maharashtra government and industry associations such as FICCI and CII backed the establishment of the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT). In partnership with the Maharashtra government, IGPDA organizes its inaugural event in Mumbai later this year. Prominent figures in the industry such as Vishal Gondal, the founder of nCore Games and Kaustubh Dhavse, the chief advisor to the chief minister of Maharashtra, commended the idea as a united voice for Indian creators.
The IGPDA wants to expand domestic studios, increase esports, and promote Indian cultural material internationally because the country's gaming sector is expected to reach $1 billion by 2025 but still mainly depends on foreign titles. Developers, publishers, tech companies, investors, and academics make up its membership, which represents the whole gaming and visual effects industry. The association's goal is to promote Indian innovation, creativity, and skill development in order to position India on the world stage for VFX and gaming.
