Appknox launches Privacy Shield to help organizations manage mobile app privacy risks and compliance.
Appknox, the premier mobile app security firm, today announced the release of Privacy Shield, a new set of tools aimed at assisting organizations in controlling privacy risks of mobile applications. The release comes at a time when mobile apps are at the forefront of enterprise strategies for growth, while still susceptible to privacy and compliance issues.
With mobile apps forecast to earn more than $522 billion in worldwide revenue by 2026, companies in all industries—financial services, e-commerce, and public services, to name a few—are becoming increasingly dependent on mobile platforms. Yet, most are still blinded to how their apps gather, store, and send out personal information. Such blind spots frequently leave users vulnerable to privacy invasions and put companies in danger of being out of regulatory compliance.
Privacy Shield aims to bridge this gap with the capability of giving organizations real-time visibility into data handling in mobile apps. The suite enables companies to discover invisible third-party trackers included in apps, track app permissions that are excessive or redundant, and identify outbound to servers in high-risk or sanctioned countries. It also assists organizations in determining where personally identifiable information (PII) is stored or sent, making sure that mobile apps comply with changing data protection regulations.
Established due to increasing data protection norms throughout the GCC, such as the UAE's Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and Saudi Arabia's Data Protection Law, Privacy Shield also complies with international regulations like GDPR and HIPAA. Subho Halder, CEO and Co-Founder of Appknox, stated that the new solution is designed to provide businesses with the visibility they require to be able to guarantee trust and compliance. "Privacy Shield demonstrates our dedication to enabling businesses to develop safe, privacy-first mobile apps," he explained. The new suite complements Appknox's current mobile security platform with complete protection from development to deployment.
