St Austell Brewery appoints Don Davis as CFO, strengthening financial leadership for future growth.
St Austell Brewery, the 1851-founded Cornish brewing, hospitality, and drinks wholesale business, has made Don Davis its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Davis is due to join the business in August 2025 and brings over 30 years of significant retail and finance experience. Davis joins St Austell Brewery from national clothing brand Hush, where he was CFO. While at Hush, he was instrumental in delivering real business growth and expansion. His expertise in financial management and strategic planning helped the company grow successfully within a challenging retail environment.
Prior to taking up his position at Hush, Davis was a senior finance executive at a number of high-profile businesses, having served as a finance director at the international online retailer ASOS and home improvement retailer Homebase. These roles have given him a deep and wide-ranging grasp of finance functions across industry sectors, which he is likely to draw upon at St Austell Brewery. Don Davis' appointment comes after a statement that the existing CFO, Colin Stratton, will resign from his position at the close of this year. Stratton, who has served St Austell Brewery for 29 years, will remain the company secretary on a part-time basis until he retires fully in 2027. His extensive period of service and institutional memory have played a critical role in defining the company's financial policy for almost three decades.
Don Davis was excited to become a part of the family-run business, citing its solid history and well-defined growth plan. He mentioned the brewery's most recent financial performance reflects continued momentum, and he is excited to work with CEO Kevin Georgel and the rest of the team to contribute to the company's future direction. This change of leadership reflects St Austell Brewery's focus on strong financial stewardship and driving sustainable growth in the dynamic brewing and hospitality sector.
