IDIS sustainable video solution offers smart security for green, future-proof London office complex.

IDIS has provided an advanced, end-to-end video solution for a landmark office building in Square Mile, London that matches security infrastructure with project sustainability objectives. Situated close to St Paul's Cathedral at the heart of the Square Mile, the development is supplied by 100% green energy and boasts planted terraces enhancing city greening and biodiversity. Carbon-neutral construction and operation are achieved through a strong reuse and retention strategy.

In addition to these sustainability objectives, IDIS integration partner Phoenix Trescray was commissioned to deliver a 24/7 HD watch over strategic areas such as the building façade, a Grade 2 listed heritage sculpture, entrances, bicycle storage, and critical internal locations such as reception, lifts, corridors, and service areas. The IDIS video solution was chosen on the grounds of cost-effectiveness in installation and continuous operation, extended lifespan, and flexibility for future upgrade, all reflecting the developer's minimal-waste ideals.

The system consists of 5MP vandal-resistant IR dome cameras with Power over Ethernet (PoE) across the interior, with wide-angle 2.8 mm lenses to offer maximum coverage without adding excessive cabling requirements. A mixture of 5MP IR dome and bullet cameras with two-way audio and integral heaters protects the exterior of the building and the entrances. The whole system is controlled through IDIS's cost- and license-free Center Video Management Software (VMS), which is run by security staff from PC workstations and overseen at reception through a 2x2 video display configuration.

Jamie Barnfield, IDIS Europe Senior Sales Director, emphasized ambitions to grow the system through the addition of a specialist security control room, implementation of AI-based video analytics for automatic alerts, and the installation of additional cameras. He commended the plug-and-play solution for allowing an efficient, cost-effective installation that facilitates long-term sustainability through minimal waste and system adaptability.
